Our strategy is built on an integrated molecular and cellular approach to the problem of cancer in individuals and in populations. A spectrum of research is underway and includes: therapeutic and diagnostic target identification and validation in both haematological and solid malignancies; clinical trials exploring new therapies; the development of novel molecular approaches for diagnosis, classification and treatment of human cancers; and investigations into the regulation of tumour spread and host anti-tumour responses.
The Institute is home to the following Research Centres:
- Cancer & Inflammation
- Cell Signalling
- Experimental Cancer Medicine
- Medical Oncology
- Molecular Oncology & Imaging
- Tumour Biology
The Institute is also home to many of the laboratories of the Cancer Research UK Clinical Centre [new window] at Barts and The London. This was the first centre of its kind to be established and is the largest constellation of Cancer Research UK clinical and translational groups in London.
The Institute hosts the CR-UK Molecular Pathology Training Programme together with the University of
Cambridge and aims is to develop a cohort of medical and non-medical scientists equipped intellectually and technologically to conduct the highest quality research on the molecular pathology of cancer.
